Gender Affirming Makeup UROP

Fall 2019 - Summer 2020

Gender Affirming Makeup is a group at MIT that is developing software to teach trans/gender nonconforming people how to add more feminine, masculine, or androgynous traits to themselves with cosmetics. After interacting with renders and the tool's preferences, the user will receive a list of cosmetics and then follow along with the tool in real time while they apply their makeup. GAM uses a projector and mirror to visualize the tutorial on the participants faces.

I was initially supposed to design a makeup vanity to demo the software, figuring out the best formation for the projector and mirror, storyboarding a spread of trans/gnc history as the table surface, and CAD-ing and building the vanity. Due to COVID, I no longer had shop access, and in-person makeup demos were no longer viable, so I transitioned to creating assets for an online demo instead.

These are a series of typography/graphic design assets that I created for GAM, brushing up on my Photoshop, Illustrator, and Blender skills.
