30 Days of Video Game Assets
Summer 2021
One of the Instagram artists that I admire and have been following for a while, @solosalero (Luis Miguel Maldonado) started a video game icon/asset challenge where he provided a prompt for each day of the month of June!
Because I focused on animation in the last challenge (36 days of type), I decided to switch gears and try to create procedural/custom-made (photoshop/illustrator/photobash) materials for each of the renders. I decided to revisit some of the games that I love playing to figure out how to 3D model and texture the props from in-game screenshots.
I’m super glad I did the challenge, I learned a LOT about materials and textures and got a lot more comfortable making my own textures and using Blender’s node network.
